Europol and Eurojust have launched the third phase of the SIRIUS project, aimed at improving cross-border access to electronic evidence. This new phase will support law enforcement agencies and judicial authorities in navigating complex legal frameworks, including forthcoming EU-wide legislation, the Second Additional Protocol to the Budapest Convention, and the draft UN Convention on Cybercrime. The project will expand its geographical focus, strengthen cooperation with non-EU countries and develop new investigative tools. It will also prepare authorities for the implementation of the EU Electronic Evidence legislative package and other relevant legal changes. SIRIUS continues to serve competent authorities from over 50 countries and fosters collaboration with 220 service providers, positioning itself as a centre of excellence in the field of cross-border electronic evidence access within the EU.
